A RETIREMENT INVESTMENT FOR YOUR FUTURE

WELCOME TO: The Alpaca Story Ranch
Your Host: Joni Head

We have been raising Alpaca's for many years!

Alpacas are wonderful animals to raise, have no horns, hooves, or claws. They are easy to handle. The Adult weighs approx 125-140 lbs, but at birth are 12-16 lbs. They give birth between 8am - 4pm (warmest part of the day). The baby, called a Cria, takes approx 340 days to be born. You can keep 6-8 per acre. They eat grass, hay and require a small amount of grain per day. They are highly efficient in their eating habits, and drink very little water.

Alpacas require only a 4ft. fence, and a 3 sided shelter from the wind. They are very disease-resistant, therefore very low vet costs. They travel well, they lay down & can go in a car, van or trailer. They live approx. 20 years. They make wonderful pets, easily handled by children for 4H projects.

Alpaca coats, called Fiber, come in many different colors. It is one of the most popular fibers as it is grease-free, light weight, and very warm. Spinners, knitters, weavers and crafters seek after it as it is 3 times stronger than sheep's wool and 7 times warmer. Having no oils or very little guard hairs make most of the fiber useable for yarns, batting and felts.

Raise the Alpaca for your Retirement Income. Secure your future by having a delightful animal which will provide you with hours of fun & relaxation, great fiber to knit or weave, plus the added feature of selling the animals and/or fiber as well as writing off expenses for having farm animals on your income tax each year.
